Miele's entry canister earns a 77% five-star rate from buyers who trade upfront cost for a vacuum that still runs strong at year six. The flat floor head delivers ruthless suction on hardwood but glues itself to carpet; a $130 turbo head upgrade is the unspoken cost if you have more than a couple area rugs.
Loved by buyers
- •Bagged system seals away dust and Maine Coon-level fur without a dust cloud when emptying
- •Quiet enough to hold a phone conversation while running, unlike budget uprights that drown out the TV
- •Still going after three to six years of daily use including two moves and loaning to neighbors
Buyer concerns
- •Stock floor head has no wheels; on anything above the lowest suction setting it locks onto carpet and requires real arm strength to push
- •No motorized brush included, so medium-pile carpet cleaning needs a $130 turbo head bought separately
- •Genuine Miele bags and filters cost noticeably more than generic options and each bag has a plastic collar
