How we evaluate vacuums

Every Vacuwiz review follows the same method. We publish it so you can judge the process, not just the conclusion.

We do not operate a test house, and we do not claim that an editor personally ran every model across hardwood, tile, and carpet. Recommendations are editorial judgments based on owner feedback plus published specifications and price data.

Owner feedback

Owner feedback is what people who bought the product write in public after living with it. We read those reports in volume, then summarize the patterns: what owners consistently like, what they complain about, and who the machine actually suits. We do not paste raw comments into articles, and we do not treat a single glowing or furious post as proof.

This is not a comments section on Vacuwiz. Readers cannot submit free-text reviews here. The input is already-public owner writing from retail listings.

Published specs

We check manufacturer and retailer specifications for the numbers that actually change a buying decision: weight, bin size, claimed run time, filtration type, brush-roll design, and whether a dock or bag is involved. We treat marketing adjectives as marketing. If a spec is missing or contradictory across sources, we say so rather than invent a number.

Price history

A "good deal" is relative to what the same model has sold for, not to a made-up list price. We use historical price data to show whether today's number is high, typical, or low. Prices change; the review should still make sense if the sale ends tomorrow.

How we score

Ratings reflect value for a target buyer, not absolute flagship performance. A strong score on a $180 stick vacuum means it does what a $180 stick vacuum should do. It does not mean it outperforms a $600 cordless.

We would rather publish a "skip this" than stretch a maybe into a recommendation. Knowing what to avoid is useful information.

What we do not do

• We do not invent first-person lab scenes, square footage, pet counts, or instrument readings.
• We do not accept free products in exchange for coverage, and brands cannot pay for placement.
• We do not send you to a retailer checkout from this site. Product pages show reference prices as information.

Corrections

If a spec changes, a firmware note shifts owner feedback, or a reader flags a factual error, we update the review with a dated note. We do not silently rewrite a conclusion. If you have a correction, contact us.
