This Amazon Basics upright surprises buyers with suction that pulls embedded cat hair and hidden dirt from carpet for under $75. It weighs just over 8 pounds and the 25-foot cord covers small apartments on one or two outlets. The hose is too short for above-floor work without lifting the whole machine, the plastic feels budget-grade, and the narrow cleaning head means more passes in larger rooms.
Loved by buyers
- •suction strong enough to pull pet hair from several inches away on hard floors
- •lightweight body and long cord that reduce outlet-hopping in apartments
- •large 1.7-liter bagless cup with a quick-release dump button
Buyer concerns
- •short hose forces you to carry the whole vacuum to reach curtains and ceilings
- •no pile-height adjustment and the suction grabs lightweight throw rugs
- •feels and sounds cheaper than similarly priced Bissell or Hoover uprights
